An Underappreciated Children’s Halloween Tale

Here is Halloween book series you’ve been missing.

If you are looking for a book series that gives you the thrill and mystery of Sherlock Holmes with a G rated touch of Dracula but isn’t going to require a lot of time?

Imagine, what if Sherlock Holmes was a cat and his Watson was a dog?

Got it?

Okay, now what if the Moriarty type character is a white bunny with black cape like markings who is possibly a vampire?

I proudly present to you the Bunnicula Series.

This is your cast: Chester the cat and Harold the dog are your detectives and Bunnicula is your possible sinister bunny.

This is a fun and entertaining group of stories.  My favorites are:

Bunnicula: A Rabbit Tale of Mystery by Deborah Howe and James Howe

Howliday Inn by James Howe and Lynn Munsinger

And my favorite

The Celery Stalks and Midnight by James Howe and Leslie Morrill

I first encountered these books in the 3rd grade.  My teacher, Mrs. Haggerty, would read to us and I got to hear lot of stories.  I am always grateful to her for taking the time to read to us because I got to appreciate so many books before I really took to reading in the fifth grade.

I remembered Harold, Chester and Bunnicula fondly and was glad to meet them again years later.

I hope you find as much joy in them as I have.

Happy Haunting
